Lares is a home app. You photograph the things in your rooms, and, if you choose, a spare phone watches a room and hands you the moments that matter. This page says what we keep, why, and how to make it go away.

What we keep

Where it lives

Everything is stored in Google Cloud in the United States, in a project that only Lares uses. Photos and clips sit in private storage; nothing is publicly reachable. Clips are described by an AI model running inside the same cloud project. They are not sent to outside services.

3D models

To turn a photo of a thing into a 3D model, the cutout of that thing (the object only, with the background removed) is sent to Meshy, a 3D generation service. Meshy receives the cutout image and returns a model. It does not receive your name, your account, or anything else.

The deal

Cameras are off unless you accept the deal. The deal is this: the clips and photos from a household that has accepted may be used to teach household robots what a home looks like. Faces are not the point and are not catalogued. You can say stop at any time from the household screen; from then on nothing new is used, and what was already set aside is deleted.

Who can see what

People you invite to your household see your rooms according to the role you give them. Viewers see moments and the book only. Nobody outside your household sees your rooms, your things, or your clips, apart from the people who run Lares when they are fixing something.

Deleting your account

Open your household screen and tap Delete my account. Your sessions, notifications and memberships are removed at once. Any household where you were the only person is deleted with everything in it, and its photos, models and clips are purged from storage. If other people share your household, it stays with them.
